summer came like cinnamon,, so sweet .

interviewed with free people at the urban home office the other day. two words: eye pleasantry. the home office in philadelphia was just as ethereal, light invoking and effortless as the brand. located in the naval yard surrounded by huge, old war ships. inside smelled like a sweet wood shop. splendid vases (apparently left over from the fall store displays) placed strategically on the wall - a kaleidoscopic, haphazard look about it. flipped through the new look book surrounded by intricate and colorful woven chairs and pillows. everyone sauntered around in lovely outfits. everyone happy. including me .

by the fire .

saturday. 1am. i sit around this lovely bonfire. made by beautiful hands. masculine and soft. the bright embers burn my eyes. and my heart is sunny in the night. this night with you .

a beautiful alien in the rough .

so the 83rd year of the oscar's was kind of a snooze. i just think james franco is way too wonderfully awkward to appeal to such a massive audience and still be graciously understood. and is it just me or is halle berry so gorgeous every time you see her it hurts? a lot of expected and well-deserved awards. natalie portman for best actress. colin firth for best actor. inception for sound mixing, editing and visual effects. duh. the animated short films that were nominated made me so anxious to see them. they all look so charming and visually pleasing. i'd like to delve into some of those documentary features as well. and as for the best dressed? psshh i almost fell out of my chair in love with cate blanchett in givenchy. the yellow and purple beading, the cut of the shoulder, the pleated airiness of the chiffon, her hair, her icy blue eyes -- all identifying features of a beautiful alien in the rough. honorable mention goes to mandy moore in that beaded beauty of monique l'hullier. i crushed super hard on that invisible neckline and that delicate silhouette. lovely.

devil in a grey dress .

this is why i love italy's grey magazine. constance jablonski shot by chadwick tyler (spring/summer 2010) has this 'don't f*ck with me' look that's much harder to pull off than the pouty 'i'm so sexy' lips we see everywhere. here, her look is strong, bloodcurdling almost. this french model, or shall i say chameleon, can transform herself into whatever in such an unexpected way and has been in high demand by every fashion outlet you can think of. like housewives for louboutins-- editors, photogs & magazines are fighting tooth and nail for this chick - and for damn good reason .

oh tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart .

their sound is insurmountable, beautifully bizarre, amazingly absurd - the gruff melancholy in lead singer marcus mumford's voice , the vibration of the banjo that winston marshall plucks so lovingly. mumford and sons came from a london universe that you just want to fall into, like some trippy tim burton western. even seeing them on the grammy's - they just seem so damn cool and mysterious. can't get enough.
