we should be lovers .
Don't know if it's known, but James Franco is my ultimate favorite actor .. or maybe I should say person? And when I say I am sparing you the obvious Robert Pattinson goo-goo eyed teenage girl lust, I mean it. He just seems so .. normal for someone so famous, but at the same time so incredibly captivating beyond any level of normalcy. Feel like I would have been good friends with him at my socially awkward yet humbling and creatively inspiring school - Johns Hopkins. So, when I found out he would be co-hosting the 2011 Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway you can imagine my heart's subsequent inner combustion. First host to win an Academy Award at the same time .. I'm so calling it.
my heart is totally bursting .
I have a deep appreciation for my fellow creative minds out there. There's so much left to be undiscovered. For now, discover a fellow blogger Helena of Pop Pop Portraits who has an imagination that makes me want to remember all my girlish, wonderful and completely innocent notions of childhood. The background story she attaches to every animation is so .. perfect. Reminds me of the short, to the point, curious choppiness of the narration in Royal Tenenbaums or Vicky Cristina. Her blog is simple, sweet and fills you up with a fluffy sense of hope.
young years, old soul .
Zee Avi makes me want to curl up in my favorite chair at home, next to a freshly stoked fire, swaddled in my softest sweater. Malaysian, 25 years alive and can play the guitar and ukulele. Like hot chocolate and homemade warm apple pie in my ears ..
elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress .
I watched Coco avant Chanel today. Audrey Tautou makes for a lovely Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel. Remember how she warmed up our insides as Amélie? She has such dark and chiseled and innocent features - a beautiful combination of contradictions. I must confess, Alessandro Nivolo played my heartstrings like a violin as Coco's lover, Boy. It was a nice little surprise to discover he also played Pollux Troy in Face Off - Nicolas Cage's wirey glasses wearing, cute little villain of a brother. You know, it's a wondrous joy to watch a foreign film when you don't even notice you're reading the subtitles. Sure it was dramatized, but what biopic isn't?

sunny delight .
favorite American designer? obvious isn't it? classically timeless Ralph Lauren .

my fellow americans .
"The courage of life is often a less dramatic spectacle than the courage of a final moment; but it is no less a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy." Our second youngest (and definitely best looking) president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas 47 years ago today. For me, his and Jacqueline's story remain relevant and so spellbinding. Leonardo DiCaprio is supposedly producing and acting in a 2013 film about the late president. Wish he was taking on the role of JFK, but word on the street is he'll be playing the FBI informant Jack Van Laningham. Either way, I'm adding Legacy of Secrecy & An Unfinished Life to my laundry list of books to get lost in.
