my fellow americans .

"The courage of life is often a less dramatic spectacle than the courage of a final moment; but it is no less a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy." Our second youngest (and definitely best looking) president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas 47 years ago today. For me, his and Jacqueline's story remain relevant and so spellbinding. Leonardo DiCaprio is supposedly producing and acting in a 2013 film about the late president. Wish he was taking on the role of JFK, but word on the street is he'll be playing the FBI informant Jack Van Laningham. Either way, I'm adding Legacy of Secrecy & An Unfinished Life to my laundry list of books to get lost in.

They're back & everywhere! For me, they never left & just erupted out of the quiet & undiscovered. I say, "pry the door open or, if need be, wedge your foot in that door and keep it open," so to speak. _quote by pauline kael

playing in the sandbox .

So, here's the thing: I do not ordinarily post street style photos un-witnessed and un-captured by moi. Tonight, I broke my own rule while perusing Glamour.Es. Not only did I stumble haphazardly upon some oh-so-refreshingly-lovely "seguidoras de tendencias" - Laura, Nathalie, Lindsey, Fany, Nicoletta & Silvia - but I was also introduced to a lovely little facebook for fashionistas and blogueras (Glamour describes it as "una comunidad de street style donde puedes incluir tus propios estilismos"). In other words, Chicisimo is an international playground where we can document our daily looks and fall in love in the virtual sandbox with those of others.

This makes me want to drink Hoegaarden and dance forever at a glow in the dark tight 'n' bright fiesta .

dear raggamuffin .

Many of my November posts have been about all the pretty voices. With a soft, raspy neigh they remind us of the loveliness we have forgotten in raw musical talent. Along with Lykke Li, Sia, Adele, Marina & Robyn I could listen to this twenty-one year old Belgian Rasta croon all day long. Selah Sue's album, Black Part Love, was in my itunes library after hearing just two songs. There's this androgynous, strong yet vulnerable quality to her sound. So soulful and merciless with her voice.

Marina & The Diamonds_Shampain (The Last Skeptik Remix)

Marina Diamandis has a range that is effortless, wonderfully weird and all her own - on and off stage. Been following the oh-so-clever little feature, 'Today I'm Wearing' whereby British Vogue elects a muse for the month and posts their daily looks. Our November muse is none other than the British singer-songwriter who obviously has an exclusive members only access to lipstick shades made by Jesus. Her sometimes whacky, sometimes cool, sometimes whimsical wardrobe always makes for a lovely game of unpredictability.  Let's all gracefully bow down and admit that Marina can pull off refreshing pieces that would look ludicrous on anyone else.  Put an alien, a robot, Lydia Deetz of Beetlejuice, a touch of the '80s and the most stylish grandma ever in a pot and you've nearly got her. The only thing missing would be a surprise ingredient that you gladly can't put your finger on, sort of like those white mystery Airheads. Now the daunting task of finding those American Flag inspired denim Topshop Shorts she's rocking on the 17th.

Images from Free People's lodge lookbook remind me of a Hogwartian-aged Sybil Trelawney traipsing about the astronomy tower & twirling in the forbidden forest. Very fitting seeing as the movie premieres @ midnight this eve. Got my advanced ticket & Trelawney inspired togs rearing & ready to go !
